David Hockney

Another artist I came across is David Hockney, I really like his collage of an elderly woman. He used a series of images of different close ups of that woman's face.
In my own version of his work I took photographs of a friend and tried to put the pieces back together.

My collage:

Sarah Morpeth

One of the artists I came across was Sarah Morpeth, I really liked her work as it was original. So I decided to do my own version of her work but the words I used were all related with domestic violence.
In my research, I found real stories of people who get abused and ripped parts of sentences and/or words.

Domestic Violence

The topic I chose for my exam is domestic violence as it relates to my theme individuals having their identity obscured to the outside world. A lot of people who get abused at home would put on a front and act as if everything was alright in front of other people.

Obscured & Covert ideas!

This is my idea for my art exam with the theme Obscured & Covert :

  • Individuals having their identify  obscured to the outside world, by only showing their  true colours when there is no audience.
  • Insecurities, the facade a person  covers their true self with.

My own version of Christo and Jeanne-Claude!

Although their work is visually impressive and often controversial as a result of its scale, I really like the trees wrapped because they really make you look at buildings and environments from a whole new and different perspective. Their work really fits with the theme 'covert & obscured'.
On the second and third pictures I wrapped a branch in newspaper and tied it with white string to make it look like their piece.

My visit to the gallery!

This is a page from my art sketchbook, a drawing from one of the piece from the Saatchi Gallery.

The exhibition called 'Gaiety is the Most Outstanding Feature of the Soviet Union' is on display at the Saatchi Gallery.
